Part of the reason why Zuffa is offering UFC 105 for free –other than the fact that UFC 106 is next weekend– is that any UFC product would be going head-to-head with boxing’s reigning pound-for-pound king, Manny Pacquiao.

Pacquiao faces off against Miguel Cotto in a fight that promoter Bob Arum (you may remember him) expects to do a million pay-per view buys.

The last time the UFC went head-to-head with a mega boxing event was UFC 103, where they lost the pay-per view battle to Floyd Mayweather Jr. by anywhere between 600,000-1,200,000 buys.

It will be interesting to see if the Pacquiao-Cotto fight affects UFC 105 ratings.
